My small 8 point

Post by Newbi »

This is the nice little 8 point that I got last week with my Exomag. I had a great broadside shot at 38 yards. I was sitting in a ground blind and the buck apparently saw something because he was looking right at me for several seconds. I decided it was now or never, so squeezed the trigger, and just as I did, he took a step toward my blind. When the arrow hit, I no longer had a broadside, but a quartering on. The arrow hit right where I wanted it too, but angled back instead of straight through. I knew it was a fatal shot, but was not happy with what turned out to be a liver shot. I had about an hour of day light left and waited till almost dark before starting the track. It wasn't long enough. I jumped him about 80 yards into the track. I could see he was hurt bad, and he was moving slowly. So I backed out and didn't recover him until first light the next morning. He was about 40 yards away from where I jumped him. Thankfully it was a cold night, and he didn't have time to spoil. I am very happy to have found him. This is only my second deer with xbow. I got a doe last year but didn't take a picture. I love my Excalibur.
