What to do with antlers?

Post by LV2HNT »

I have been thinking about the antler collection that my dad and I have and how it is starting to get kind of big. I bought my first home this summer and my girlfriend has allready told me that I can't bring the whole collection over so I have to pic a few and leave the rest. I always knew the day would come (girlfriend motivated or not) that I would eventualy run out of space, so I have always been trying to think of what I could do with them when the time comes. I deffinately don't want to end up like my dad who ended up running out of space and started putting them in boxes, untill one day when the boxes got thrown into the trash. So my question to you guys is if you have any ideas as to what I can do with them? I have always dreamt of making a chandelier but other than that, I don't know, maybe some kind of furniture or something. What do you do or what have you seen that I could try? Thanks

Sell 'em to people for rattling. They'd probably have to go cheap.

I see them on ebay. I have heard certain ethnic groups like them for medicinal purposes.

I built a chandelier a couple of years ago for my dad. Not to hard if you have the time, just takes a lot of planning.

If you choose to do that, for goodness sake do not do it on eBay or some other public forum. Because in Ontario you will have 'splainin' to do if the CO comes a knockin'!

He's in Virginia.

Also I have seen racks and have known a few people who have different racks from yards sales. However I know it's not legal here.

They make great handles for tools, harder than any plastic I've found. And buttons. Just stack the best in a corner into an antler tree.

A while back, there was quite a contoversy here in Ontario involving some guy who innocently sold a moose-head that had been in the family for years. The guy was charged and the story made the national papers. It really made the government look bad. I'm not sure how things turned out in the end...
