Frist X-BOW Deer

Post by Fork Horn »

I got my first X-BOW deer this morning, I went out with Fergie around 6:30 and set up about 100yrds apart on either side of a ridge. I thought the weather channel said it was going to be a north wind but when I sat down and checked the wind it was due West. The was worst possible direction for this spot. I was facing the large Hardwood stand with the cedar swamp behind
me. I have been seeing deer come from the hardwoods into the swamp in the early morning all week. I figured I was doomed with the wind blowing into the hardwoods. I sat till about 8:00 when I thought I would try some rattling,
just as I went for the horns I hear the swishing of feet in the leaves. I thought for a moment it was Fergie and when I looked around the big maple I was sitting against I see this Large buck not ten yards behind me and coming right for me. Now I got the wind in my favor and he steps out from behind a tree about 8 yrds to my left. I got a great double lung shot and he only ran about 60yrds and my bolt flew about 50. I feel pretty lucky considering I got my frist deer only a week ago with the shotgun and
he was an 8 point and this is a 9 pointer. I figure I'll never see another deer:D
