Climbing stand recommendation?
Never had a climbing stand and never used one. I'm looking into buying one now. So far I'm thinking of Summit Viper SS.
Any recommendations?

The summits are awesome. Might cost a bit more, but worth it. I purchased a Northstar Climber last year and I love it. Light and quiet. Not as high quality as the Summits, but still a great stand.
The climbers are great for a quick setup in a new spot. I also like them because I have seen deer avoid or look up at a permanent stand because they know that hunters are sometimes there. If you put up a climber in a new spot, they'll have no idea!

I hunt for memories, the meat's a bonus!
I have been using the Summit Bullet for 2 seasons.
10/10 IMO.
-light 23 lbs
-no squeaks
-armrest cradles the Excal. well, waiting for the shot as a holder
-armrest is great as a seat when climbing and decending
-armrest makes a great gun,X-bow, and elbow rest when taking a shot

climbing stand
I just bought a Summit Ultimate Viper SS. It's got all the bells and whistles. The seat is like sitting in your favorite chair. Has a shooting rail which us old guys need. Best deal was on Ebay.

I've have a lone wolf sit and climb, I love that it packs flat, i've had no problems with it, The bow holder in the base fits like it was made for an excaliber, I like the shooting rail, it makes no noise it is deadly silent. The whole stand is well thought out. The treestand is quiet. I highly reccomend it. I am a smaller person 5' 10" 150 lb a heavy person would have a harder time fitting in the seat, I think it is snug but comfortable.
Awesome! I don't think you'll regret it.Fazan wrote:Just purchased Summit Ultimate Viper SS.
Thanks for advice!
If anyone hasn't suggested this yet, you might also want to pick up the footrest & backpack straps to go on it. (or fashion something similar yourself).
I also split the side storage bags with my brother so we each have one. Makes for a nice way to store your safety harness.
