We have been following this one since last fall, when they first started to solicite orders by showing photos of a Vix and a Max, then interchanging parts to make 4 models. Our lawyers are drooling at the concept of them finding a North American distributor so that we can let them show us their stuff! Sadly, there is no recourse to the manufacturer in China, but if anyone thinks that they can profit enough to suffer the pain we'll inflict, they are wrong.
Let's face it, Middleton was small potatoes compared to this threat, we expected him to go away before it was worth the effort to litigate. This is serious and we won't sit and watch if we find a North American attempting to aid these guys.
Interestingly, their prices really aren't all that much lower than the real thing, so maybe the actual threat isn't all that horrible. My #1 concern is that they can copy our labeling and counterfeit them as the real McCoy.

I have tested a Flytech compound

is really similar to an Horton but it costs 1/5( in my country) and quality is 1/3 less than the original, but I think enouth to hunt.
I am really curious to try this fake of Excalibur and know the price.Consider also that in Italy an ExomaX cost us 1.034$ (650€)   , for this reason I decided to buy it in US.
I will probably send an email to China
Thank you for your answers

China is very adapt at making knock-offs. As we all know by the other products that they copy, one is hard pressed to tell the difference between the clone and the original.

Regarding these clones, I wouldn't be surprised if they have copied not only the looks, but used the same raw materials to produce the same quality. If that is the case, even if legitimate North American distributors do not jump on board, it won't be long before we see black market countefeits.

I am seriously concerned about the security of those items: with 225lbs if a limb burst what does it happen:?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?:

Actually some of the Chinese products are not all that bad of quality. They are using a lot of raw & recycled materials from the USA, and have driven up prices on items like copper water pipes to the point I'm switching to plastic (PEX - short for crosslink polyethylene) for a lot of my plumbing jobs.

When it comes to crossbows, I'll bet they can produce a workable clone of the Excalibur. No doubt the quality would not equal Excalibur's, but I'll bet they will fling arrows with fair accuracy since they have copied Excalibur's time tested design. I think any potential buyers with any common sense would stick with Excalibur, though. If my Phoenix breaks, I'm going to pick up the phone and call Excalibur (who will fix the problem promptly!). If a Chinese clone breaks, I'm betting parts & service are going to be hard to find (and I can't speak Chinese, so I can't call to ask. :( ).

The problems with copies like these are the uninformed and uneducated buyers who just want to snap up a bargain. I hope Bill T can keep them from being sold in North America!

Bill T, Can you prevent these bows from being sold only in North America? Hopefully your product is protected further abroad.

I was wondering how long it would take them!
What ever happened to Good old "Honourable" Inventing. :?:
They would probably do better designing something of their own.
