Price is about 50$.I already know Matthias V bar absorber and I will probably buy them.

hello i was at the bow shop yesterday they had the sts the price is closer to 80$ i did not think it was worth it i have shot a lot of deer with my xbows and noise has never been a problem at 20 or 30 yeards my opinion

I think that is is usefull not only for rumour or noise, but also for:
- an eventual dryfire,
- preserve the life of the limbs,
- for a better precision in long distant shoots ( es:110yards )
- blocks the vibrations using light bolts( es:350-450gr)

I just added the STS to my Vortex back in May. I had to do some modification (shorten) the round studs that the rubber boots are on because my string could not come to full rest. I ended up cutting off about .125" to get it to fit properly. Otherwise it works great and along with a custom string from Boo my Vortex is now a lot quieter.

Yes, you may have to cut the posts slightly, but they are definetely worth getting. Have them on all my Crossbow's now. Mine came from the Bow shop. Nice people.

I just got mine from Wyvern Creations last week. I noticed a difference as well. With a boo string, sts, and heavier arrows, my wife believes it's pretty close now to a compound noise wise.

I had never shot an x-box till i shot my phoenix and i could not believe how loud it was compared to a compound. I started wearing ear plugs whenever i shot my x-bow cause I hated the "T-wannggggg". I decided I needed something to quiet it down. I got a STS and a BOO string for my phoenix which helped to quiet it down. i no longer wear any ear plugs but can say its not as quiet as my compound. I do not think in normal hunting distances (30 yards and under) that it doesn't really make a difference as far as an animal reacting to the noise. I just think it makes the bow more enjoyable to shoot thereby instilling more confidence in the shooter.I also think that it does help with vibration thereby increasing the life of the limbs and will definitely be beneficial in a dry fire situation. I would recommend one along with a BOO string.

Should there be any string pressure against the bumpers ? I just installed mine tonight, I cut an 1/8" (same as .125") + blade width and I still have some string pressure against the bumpers. Should I take more off ? Also included in the package were 2 strings about 28" long, what are these for ? There was a noticeable reduction in noise.

Yeah somebody what is the string for it isn't mentioned in the instructions that I can find it seems to be a simple solution to a big problem not nearly as heavy a system as the Italian one

DH, I've set mine so that the string barely has some pressure on the bumpers. The strings are supposed to be served onto the string next to the center serving to prevent any contact between the string material and the bumpers. Rather than serve that material on I think you should replace the center serving and make it wider to accommodate the bumpers.

The sound suppressor is home made with 2 aluminium pieces from a stepladder,and the cushion are Simm compound blades vibration absorber.
With boo string
Quieter than a long ATA compound bow.

The Simm absorber cost $19.99 for the pair,so it all it cost to make those suppressor.

If a bow of any kind made no noise at all....I think the deer would hear
the arrow appraoching his body. I have STS on a Phoenix and its worth
the money. Bow is quiter and less vibration. I dry fired once....forgot
to load the arrow. The fast flight string actually flew off bow. I could not find any damage.....I think STS helped stop damage in this misfire.

So Boo what you are saying is should just touch the absorbers is that correct ? mine is pushing into the absorbers about a half a string width and is holding the string back 1/8" or so from it's natural rest, is this too much pressure on the absobers.
