Off Topic / Political Poop Tossing?

Post by Swish »

Hey guys, just thought I'd throw this out there. We're all political and with good reason, its tough times for everyone. These discussions get heated and sometimes offensive. Do they really belong here?

Tagging the subject with "OT" still doesn't address the clutter that all this back-and-forth creates on this board. Its like shouting in an outhouse in here sometimes :)

Any opinions on this?

Swish, I didn't vote in the poll. My take would be this:

Leave things as they are and allow the remarkably reserved contributors of this forum to police themselves, as they always have.

No offense to you in the above. We're all welcome to our opinions here, and free to state them.

I'll grant that the political discussions do get a little "hot" sometimes ... but this forum is unique, and the best one I've ever been part of ... in that the occasional inappropriate comment doesn't generate a lot of sniping and ugliness.

We all call each other down if that's necessary ... at least that's been the case in the past.

I say let's let the remarkable freedom of this forum continue as it is. :D

There are alot of O/T's that I do not enter because of the O/T~!

If we say no to this then we would have to say "NO O/T" at all.

This forum has alot of great people who will intervene if it is required....that's what separates this forum from all the others and makes it the best around~!

Just my opinion from up here in the cheap seats.

I think the O/T stuff actually adds to the forum, especially in the "off season".

Even though the debates get a little "heated" sometimes, we still love each other. That goes for DrDan too. :)

If it weren't for the political threads, then I wouldn't have learned half the stuff that matters. It's actually made the upcoming debates worth watching.

I like it just the way it is. :D

Heck I think we can solve the worlds problems right here on the forum. At least sharing opinions opens our eyes to the problems.

Wabi & Grizz 2012

It has a nice ring to it! At least you guys have an opinion... I called and emailed both my Senators and Representatives about this bailout plan. The decision to spend $700 billion is a little overwhelming to decide in two or three days. Bush has totally trashed everything he has touched and I have no respect for his leadership whatsoever. I believe he should go back to the ranch and cut brush until January. Any ideas he may have are not thought out completely so I vote "NO" to the bailout plan.

And yes I am a bit of a politician myself (retired). When I got out of the hospital and faced reality in a wheelchair I found a hostile environment in my hometown. I fought various governmental groups and made this town more handicap accessible. I was noticed and commissioned by Governor Celeste to serve on the Ohio Governors Council for Persons with Disabilities. I served eight years and helped with the planning and implementation of the ADA Act as Environmental Concerns Committee Chairperson. Throughout all of this, I learned that the squeeky wheel gets the oil. If we don't stand up for our beliefs we have noone to blame but ourselves.

areostarp . . .no thanks, I only enjoy debating with DrDan, he is easy on me.

wabi . . . you and Grizz have my vote.

DrDan . . .just educate yourself on the timeline, it happened while Clinton was trying to keep himself out of jail. I'm sure he had his mind on other pressing things. Clinton is living the American Dream and we tax payers are still footing the bill. I'm sure there's a joke in there somewhere.

I'm still waiting on someone to tell me one thing Obama has done for which they are proud. Just one. I'm not impressed with anything on his resume. DrDan . . .you are more qualified than Obama.

So which ticket will it be?

WABI / GRIZZ 2012

or

GRIZZ / WABI 2012

Or should we just be CO-PRESIDENTS?

I suggest MANDATORY CROSSBOW SEASONS in all states!

I agree with Grizz and Sumner all the way. I have never been a member of any other forum and see no reason why I should be. This place and the people who frequent it are great.
