Greetings...and a bow choice question

Post by subneural »

Hi Everyone, greetings from southern Ontario. I've been lurking on this forum for a bit, picking up some hunting tips along the way to use with my beloved Benelli Supernova. I'm impressed with the overall quality of the posts here and the people making them.

So here's my question - is there any reason I *shouldn't* buy the Phoenix "Just Enough" package as my first crossbow?

Thanks!

Yup.

You'll eventually need the other stuff.

There is no reason not to get a Phoenix package. I love mine.
Take it easy.

WELCOME!

I shoot the Vixen, but I bought my husband the Phoenix - he loves it. Get the toys to go with it - it's inevitable!

I've owned the Vixen, Exocet (175#), and now the Phoenix.
The Phoenix is all the bow I want for my deer hunting. I've put meat in the freezer every year since I've owned it (this is my 3rd season with it if I remember right). Missed one deer this year due to a scope malfunction, (not an Excalibur scope that malfunctioned, but it's wearing an Excalibur Vari-Zone now!) but other than the complete miss it's a 100% kill ratio for every deer I've shot (and hit) with it! Couldn't ask for any more than that!

Thanks all. I think I'll be taking the plung on Saturday. The Phoenix package looks great (and I've already bought the excal cocking aid and soft case in anticipation!). Deer will be my primary goal, probably turkey too.

If you what the scope get it. But you will need broad heads a cocking aid is good and a stinger is a must.
The Phoenix is the best shooting one , the excoet 175 is as well.
So I heard.

The "Just Enough" isn't quite just enough - you'll need the cocking aid and wax as well.

I'd suggest you go with the full "Right Stuff" package - costs more, but includes eveything you're eventually going to need.

Then you'll also want a case and a target.

As for the Phoenix bow itself, no reason why it can't be both your first and your last crossbow - it's that good.

I got the Phoenix and the Vortex. Like 'em both. If it came to keeping just one (not likely) it wopuld be the Vortex. Little flatter trajectory out to 40 yards.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. It looks like i'll be pulling the trigger on a Pheonix package on Monday.

I'm happy that Excaliburs are made about 20 minutes from my house, in the unlikely event that I ever need service ;)
