BigBear, congrats on the hunt. I am also interested in the outfitter you used. The link you posted does not work. Great pictures also. Thanks for sharing.

No crossbows allowed up there apparently.

According to Gov. Quebec website,

"In Zones 22 and 23, hunting with a bow or firearm is permitted, whereas hunting with a crossbow is prohibited for all hunting. "

Too bad, Maple

I thought I heard talk of them opening up the xbow province wide next year....

Do you still need to do the archery test to bow / xbow hunt in la belle province though?

we were planning to go to Mirage outfitters in 2 years and we were told no crossbows. I don't know the area they're in. Which outfitter did you use? I would prefer to use zone 22 instead if crossbows are permitted. I'd bring my rifle anyways in case things don't look good with the bow.

I just checked the regs online. Crossbow hunting has been opened up almost everywhere in Quebec and shares the same seasons as bow. But for Caribou there is no Crossbow hunting in zones 17, 22, 23, and 24. But the regs go on to talk about some zones having special rules in place for certain zecs or portions of zones or even individual outfitters and to check with them before you go.

The xbow hunters seen in 22 may have been in one of those "special" areas. Or they may have been aboriginal. Or maybe they didn't know any better.
