2009 Excaliburs

Did you guys see some retailers advertising the 2009 models without pictures?

Looks like the Vixen is getting camo and there will be a litter mate to the Phoenix. Maybe a pistol grip?
Some people just like stepping on rakes

I know this isn't the normal sort of wish, but I wish they would offer a crossbow with a wooden or laminated stock (other than the very expensive Y25).

Is there going to be $90 worth of improvments in the Exomax? $499 for 08 $589 for 09. I somehow doubt it but I guess that is just inflation and the increased costs of doing business.

I say look for an 08 and save yourself $90 if you're in the market.

Like Grizzly,a wood or laminated stock ,no thumbhole.
The synthetic stock is noisy when hitting a branch, lot more than a wooden stock
An other improvement would be a dryfire safety .

I would settle for them just offering laminated stocks to fit the existing models. I would love a nice laminated thumbhole stock for my 06 Exomax. If it was a tad shorter like the Equinox that would be even better.

I'm guessing the Ibex is a 175# thumbhole stock model and the camo Vixen is long overdue!

ive been trying to get a laminated stock for years.... If you do find one, its well over 300bucks

A laminated model stock to fit in the 80-125 range would be sweet

Thumbholes are awesome, makes it easier to hold for any period of time.

I think I would like to see something for the aging baby boomer who still wants to pack equipment on his back and walk some pretty good distances. Every year it gets harder and harder on this sixty year body. (An autopsy would say it's around eighty.)

I would love for Excalibur to provide me with 300 ft/sec with something small and light. The phoenix gets heavy while marching up and down the hills and hollows here in southern Ohio. Take a Vixen, increase the power stroke, shorten the limbs, angle those limbs forward and finally, get rid of every ounce that does not need to be there for the bow to kill. Or create something entirely new. Think out of the box.

I am willing to make many concessions for this speed and weight. I don't care about sound. Give me 300 ft. and it can sound like a cherry bomb going off for all I care. The deer will hear it, but it will be too late. He is dead; he just doesn't know it yet.

Looks are of little importance. It need not win any beauty contests. In fact it can be ugly as sin. Function here always trumps form. Compact and deadly is what I am after.

There are only two concessions I do not want to make.

It still must be a recurve.

And it still must be an Excalibur.

shortening the wingspam will give you some amazing results...it wouldn't be difficult to shorten the limbs by approx. 2" each side, redrill the holes in the limbs and slightly modify the limb pockets  ...as with a conventional recurve the shorter the bow length the more the poundage and of course the more fps...i should try to build one of these sometime  ...not sure why they wouldn't offer a production bow as you mention...believe me, it's totally "possible"
