String replacement

Post by Belt&Suspenders »

Guys, how do you know when it's time to replace the string on your crossbow? I got an Exomax for Christmas 2005. I've left it strung that hole time shooting occasionally and have always kept the string waxed. It doesn't show any unusual wear, just some around the serving. At what point do you know to replace a string? Thanks for your time. Harry

I find when it starts getting "hairy" it may be close, or the other way is when I go to adjust brace height and it is as stiff as a coat hanger.
For the most part I wait till a strand breaks.
