be careful what you post

Seems like online posting of a deer pic cost some Ohio poachers a good sum! Ohio put a new law into effect last year and it allows the courts to fine a poacher plus add restitution costs for the value of the game poached. For big bucks it can add up to big bucks! (pun intended)
TOLEDO, Ohio -- Ohio wildlife investigators said two convicted poachers picked the wrong deer to kill. Wildlife photographers near Toledo first noticed the deer nicknamed "Big Boy" had been missing from the Side Cut Metropark last fall.

Then they saw photos on the Internet of 20-year-old Justin Angles, of Fostoria, posing with the 15-point buck and called authorities.

Angles even posted a picture of himself with the deer on the state Division of Wildlife Web site, claiming he had harvested the deer in Wood County with a long bow.

Angles and 20-year-old Daniel Mahoney of Akron both pleaded no contest to charges of taking a deer by illegal means and illegal possession of deer parts.

The two have been ordered to pay $13,000 for illegally taking the deer from a park.

As hunters we have enough problems with the anti hunters and gun grabbers, now something like this using archery equipment. These guys should NEVER be allowed to puchase a hunting license again.

$13.000??? Is that all . . .look at all the fools out there right now going to "ranches" to shoot a captive deer. They are paying big bucks and $13,000 makes it legal. For a illegal take, it should be 3X that.

I got a feeling $13,000 might be a good sum for this guy. However, for some, it's the going rate.

We had a guy post a big buck on my website a coupel eyars ago. It was kind of a head scatcher as this picture looked like one of those "Glamour Shots". No camo, no gun, no bow in the pictures.

A little digging by our resident CO and he found out the guy shot it illegally with a rifle.

What boosting the ego weill do to some guys.

$13 K is a lot of money. Maybe that will send a message to others.

A 13,000 dollar fine and im sure he lost his hunting privillages for at least five years or it could even be a life ban on hunting in ohio.

What's wrong with poaching? Alot of folks do it often, and I don't blame them, if that's the way they like to eat their eggs.

Now when it comes to wildlife, well that's a no-no.
