Brand New

Post by roly »

HI Guys; Iam just new here , I've only been reading so far.

Started xbow hunting about a season and a half ago , same old story, killed a nice deer first time out and now I'm hooked.

But I'm a bit overwhelmed and feel like a kid going to a new school for the first time. Where I once held my mighty Excalibur and felt invincible, now I feel naked and ashamed to be so unknowledgable (and at my age naked is not good)
So I got to get dressed,
I'll start with my string- A flemish dyna flight , is that ok or do I need something else.

Hi Roly, welcome to the forum. If you've already whacked a nice deer I'd say you have everything you need already! Nothing wrong with your string. What do you think you are lacking? Is there anything you'd like to improve?

Welcome aboard. If you already have a good string then I found a new quiver mount like the Groundpounder or danny Miller style is way better than the factory setup. It allows you to sling the bow and carry it over your shoulder like a rifle without banging into you. Listen to these guys, some of em have it bad for this stuff but I'm not mentioning any names.

I know what your saying Terrym
I shot a lot of compound and got caught up in the quest for speed, better to try to keep it simple.

Welcome to the forum, Roly! :D

You might try just shooting for a while and seeing if you can identify anything you'd like to change. Give yourself some time to discover what you like and don't like.

Have a blast! 8)

There are a lot of options if you want to customize your bow. Quite a few forum members make and sell different things to add to your bow such as strings, quiver mounts, bolts, x-bow stands etc. All are a good bunch of guys and more than willing to answer any questions you have.
One Thing I recommend is an S.T.S system. It mounts on front of your bow and butts against the string. It quiets down the bow and might even protect your limbs in a dry-fire.

Thanks cdup

I normally stay low keyed and just read and listen, but your right, it is addictive.
