No turkeys today , but got some other cool bird pic's ...

Post by R.J. »

The boy's showed up this morning .... Rob H. to pattern his new Hatsun Escort factory camoed 12 gauge ... Jim M. to pattern his Browning and sight in a Varizone on his Wolverine .. Robin I. came along for scouting later on ...

Rob H. didn't achieve the pattern spread he was after yet , but he did determine it was maybe a tad too tight at 20 yards ! .... I never heard what the name of the choke was he was using , but looking at the 20 yard pattern , I'd call it the " jelly head decapitator " !

1st shot was pulled to the left ... next shot was well centered !

Didn't take long to blow some big holes in the plywood ...

He later used that choke , in a joint effort to help prune some of the high dead branches from my maple tree !

Once we all had fun with the turkey loads , and Jim M. had his Wolverine sighted in , we headed to the local truckstop for a hearty breakfast ...

Sandman and I headed out for some scouting ... Covered a lot of area , but never did see a turkey ?

My lens is acting up ... I took approx 75 shots today but only got a few frames that were in focus enough to post ..

Some Tundra Swans in flight ...

Woodduck drake with hen in the foreground ... some misc cover to focus through but a couple frames turned out ..

And of course , lots of paired up geese everywhere we went ...

Come oooooonnnnn April 27th !

Nice pics, RJ. :D

I see tens of thousands of tundra swans fly over the farm every year! Looks familiar to me!

Can't get my mind off that patterning sheet.. I would love to know what choke was in that gun. :D
