Post by cdup »

we went and ran my crawfish traps this morning. We had around 60 .lbs total to cook. Brought my camera along to share a few pics. of what we call a swamp,

Had this little guy watching me as I went along.

We visit a local family that we met last year, it was good to see they survived both of the fall hurricanes(gustav and Ike )! :D I tried to get a few pics. of them, but the surrounding trees didn't allow it.

Nice pics ... looks a lot like our swamps!

Do y'all call the green plant that covers the water's surface duckweed? That's what it's called here ... lots of tourists think it's scum! LOL :P

Our gators, for the most part, aren't very big ... though there was a 13 footer caught under a grain leg at a local farming operation last year:

Yes that is a beautiful place for sure---well I would almost call it heaven--floating around in there in a canoe---would be the ultimate in peace and tranquility.

Well, Elf ... if Louisiana's swamps are anything like ours, you'd better carry along a can of heavenly mosquito repellent when you go to glory! :P

Where 'bout you at. My wife and daughter were down the other week to Diamond to help rebuild some homes with Mennonite Disaster Service in the bayou. They have shared stories and pictures. I am hoping to go down in March during the break.

Now THATS a swamp
And I love swamps.
I know if I have to stay the night that everything I need(and allot of what I dont) is right there.
