Making of a wood stock

Post by agingcrossbower »

I am trying to post pics of a soft maple wood blank which I got another member. If I can get this posting pics correct, I will keep posting the stages as I go. Wish me a lot of luck. Thanks to Desert Rat and Bojangles for giving me the itch. [imghttp://i617.photobucket.com/albums/tt253/19701970][/img]http://i617.photobucket.com/albums/tt253/19701970 Image

Mike . . .I tried to post the pictures too. Apparently you have the wrong link. In photobucket you copy the "direct link" . . .I think it's the second one.

I use the bottom line of the 4 in photobucket, just copy it and paste, voila.

It's a pity they can not make a set standard for posting pictures on websites. I guess that would be to easy.

Very nice piece of wood. I would suggest makeing a protocopy out of some soft wood (pine) befor useing that nice piece! Glue up some 2 x4's.

Is that big leaf maple. I made a stock for my encore out of maple. It makes a pretty stock. Looking forward to following along.

Yes, that has crossed my mind. I think I will try two 2x8 spruce glued together and plane to same demenisions. Yes I would hate to mess up that maple. Thanks Mike
