Best wild game meat

Post by Shotnbeer »

Just wondering whats the best wild game meat you have ever eaten. I've heard moose is the best (never got one), elk I think is great (got quite afew) and eat eveything but the hide :) , deer I butcher, wrap then often give away or make jerky. I like grouse and wild turkey (in the bottle and with feathers). Had african eland and antelope that wasn't bad either. Whats your preference. :?:

Moose burgers from the master's grill. Those are awesome. 8)

Best I've ever eaten was some sheep that was shot in Alaska. Yummy!

I've heard that moose is awesome but I haven't had any. I ate a ton of elk last year and I love it, but I think the taste of elk meat is really dependent on where it came from and what it was eating more than any other animal. I haven't had bear, but ive had pies made with bear fat and its fantatic. Pheasent and quail are great if cooked right and horrible when done poorly. The only wild meat I wasn't able to finish ever was pronghorn. Its still hard to vote against venison tenderloin right from the deer to the pan though. Good topic.

Elk from out west is hard to beat for me. I also like buffalo, moose, mountain goat, sheep and venison. I've never had antelope. I've had some bear meat that was good and some that was bad.
It probably depends more on how soon and how well the meat was processed than the type of meat. I've had good and bad venison and I'm convinced that the sooner you get the hide off and get it processed the better it will taste.
