Alligator Hunting Questions

I have booked a FL gator hunt for next fall.

Could those of you who have done it share some wisdom? I need to know what the best bolt and head is and ideas about line storage and float deployment.

My primary interest is always accuracy. I shoot a 2006 Exocet with a custom birdseye stock and a Lumizone scope. For deer I have really liked Danny Miller's Gold Tip arrows and the FFF string.

Is the Boo string really that much better?

Welcome to the forum! I've never been gator hunting except when UF comes to Athens. Also, I just wanted to point out that gators do not have fur, so there will be no stretching of said fur.

Seriously, the Boo strings are that much better. I do not hunt without a Boo string on my bow. Can you be accurate and pleased with your bow without a Boo string on it? Yes. However, the quality and craftsmanship of a Boo string is top notch. They last much longer than a factory string. You will not be disappointed and if for some reason you are, then Boo will take care of you. He is a super nice guy.

I've hunted and killed many a Gator but not with Bow so I cant help you there,your outfitter should have suggestions.

I hunted them with a bang stick,got right in the water with them.

Why use your bow ?

Retreival might be difficult, unless you go for a small one.

I entered into the license lottery and did some research and learned that they like to get BIG ONES. Hand thrown harpoons with heavy ropes and such. They are incredibly strong and lightening fast and deadly if they get a grip.

BTW- I heard that when Uga was told that little Timmy Tebow crushed Hershel Walker's all-time rushing record, that he up and died. That is a real shame. Here in Againesville, we always respected that dawg. Maybe they will get a new doggie and put earmuffs and blinders on him for the game. Lessons learned you know. Maybe Georgia will go to the title game this year. That would be great. Maybe get to play Ohio State so they can get an easy win just like we did.
