I was out Sunday morning with a firend. i could only hunt till 9:10 then I had to head home. Just before 9:00 I texted my bud that I was going to be leaving in 10 min so I will probably arrow a deer in 9. Didn't take that long becasue just a couple minutes later this doe snuck in from a valley to my left. She went behind a small cedar stand and I got ready to shoot. As she came out the other side I estimated 27 yards and took her. Double lung thru and thru a little rearward and low but deadly. 25 yard recovery within site.

Long Story
The w/e started out poorly becasue we had just found out that our 17 year old baby sitter has been steeling from us. There go my plans for next weeks gun hunt. We are presently dealing with whether or not to charge her with theft.
Anyway my wife (God love her) told me to go out Sunday morning, "...I feel good about it. Plus might be a while before you can go out again..." (This is why we are still married!
)So I text my buddy who said he was coming out. he has not shot a deer yet. i set up a stand for him in an absolute honey hole and he missed a buck last week. I was going to sit there if he could not make it out.
Just before I walked in he told me he was on his way so I went to a different spot and left him the honey hole.
It was a very quiet morning and I have not even seen a deer yet this year but they are strating to move and my wife said she felt good about it so...
at 8:50 my buddy asks me what the plan is. I text him that I am gone in 10 min. Then i start writing a text that says I'll shoot one in 9 minutes but before I can hit send, I see a nice doe coming in from my left in a small valley. She walks behind a small clump of cedars that I know are 25 yards
out. Anything behind the cedars I hold for 30 yards. I bring up the X bow and put it out the l side window of my blind. (right side as viewed in this pic;
Safety off as I bring it up. i quickly realize the scope is fogged up. I rub it with my bear finger and there she is emerging from the other side of the cedars angling to give me a good broadside and completely unaware even though she just crossed the trail I walked in on.
I let her take a few steps, hold for 27 yards and shoot. I see the lumenok hit her chest a little rearward and low but the sound says good chest hit. I watch her amble off back into the valley and bed down not 25 yards from where I hit her. My fiend heard the shot and texts me "..what the **** just happened..." I respond simply, "...DOE DOWN..."
She thrashed around up to the 15 minute mark and then at 30 minutes I directed my buddy to come and get her.
A great note to an otherwise rough w/e for us. Had her hanging in the garage by 11:00.
