Last Chance Buck
The alarm went off just after 5:00am and I quickly hit snooze and rolled back over. What seemed like seconds later it went off again. This time my wife asks "are you going??" To which I reply "NO" And I roll over for the final time and return to dream land. I decided I would just enjoy a day of Football and nascar racing. Around 2:30 the wife says she is going out and I decide to go try my last kick at the can before shotgun season messes things up for a while. I am lucky my spot is only 10km from my house.
I used about 3/4 of a bottle of Code blue Doe Estrus on my way into my spot and around the area I was hunting. Just arfter 5:00 I hear what sounded like a herd of deer coming though the woods behind me..down wind. I finally get a glimpse of what is making all the noise. I see about 14 turkeys rooting and scraching along toward me. I adjust in my seat a little and my rattling antlers fall off my lap and crash to the ground. They didn't seem to bothered by it and keep moving along. I look back along the trail I was set up on and BAM... A buck not more than 20yrds away coming right for me. I didn't hear him because of the turkeys. He's in the open and I can't move. He gets to 10yrds and stops. We have a stare down for what seemed like forever but was a minute or two. Finally he steps behind a large tree And I get into place for the shot. He stepped out from behind the tree and WHACK. He bucked and ran about 20yrds and bucked again, Ran in a big circle and crashed down 60yrds in front of me It was a very steep shot and the arrow went in the high back and exited in his armpit on the other side.

Every time you kill a coyote an angel gets a set of wings. OK, I made that up. But it should be the case.
