Rookie Buck!

Post by Petersen »

I have to say I taught him everything he knows....unfortunately I haven’t put my own advice to work yet.

My cousin Owen and I hunt waterfowl and small game together, and this year I convinced him to buy a bow. (he didn't buy excal  ) I taught him everything I could about deer hunting, and what little I know about bow hunting, and last night it all paid off. He was watching a doz or so turkeys, when this buck came running in. He told me the buck kept putting his head down and chasing off/playing with the turkeys. After about 10 min the buck finally presented him with a shot. He made a beautiful double lung at 30 yards. He only ran 30 yards and folded up!
I got the excited cell phone call at 5:15, and we were skinning him by 6:30
Guess I have a thing or two to learn from him now

Corn is finally of in my neck of the woods, hopefully I can finally bag my first x-bow deer and catch up! I feel kind of bad eating all of his deer

CONGRATS OWEN!
Wouldn't be hunting...if you got them all the time!

It's good to teach him humility and perseverance. How better than by your stalwart example. Now that you've done that go shoot something.
