Swhacker broadheads

Post by prossbow »

I have been reading magazines and watching hunting channels like mad and I've seen a number of ads for these. I've only seen them in use by vert bow hunters. Has anyone tried them?

Never seen them before, but, I'm interested . . .well, only in the 125 gr.

Anybody shoot these things at a deer yet?

I've seen them at Wal-Mart and was tempted to try. Hope we can get a review.

It does fit my MO . . .wide and wider. However, the total cutting surface is still less than the Stricknine because of the three blades on the Stricknine. Probably close to the Slick Trick. I like the design and that hard angle penetration is hard to get even with a fixed blade. They have a lot of ferrule out in front. I like it.

I'm the type person who will try just about anything once   , so I picked up the last pack of Swhacker 100 grain 1 3/4 broadheads that our Wal-Mart had this morning. I would have much rather had the 2 inch 100-grain broadhead but as usual they were out. I will be hunting for the next 5 days and expect to be able to test one of them on an unsuspecting doe. I will post a review and pictures if or when the deer cooperate.

Scott, I am currently working on a new broadhead design I call "The Cleaver" ... that actually cuts the deer in half upon impact.

When I have perfected it, I will contact you about testing the prototype. :P

Patent search clearly shows this design has already been thought of. The inventors are shown below.

I think the more you improve the odds of taking down the prey as quickly as possible the better. I am interested in the results of a this broadhead as I am too old to go chasing deer around and want them to drop ASAP. I got my last deer with a 100 grain Montec CS and Gold Tip Laser II with my Ibex at 20 yards - he went less than 20 yards before drop and die after a quartering away shot that punctured the diaphragm and 1 lung. He could not breathe so that was all she wrote.
The reason I am interested in the swhacker is if I get a less than perfect shot will it bring my food down where I can go get it quickly and be satisfied that it did not suffer too much
I think I will take the chance and try the swhacker this fall

Well this thread is four years old lol so if you do a search on Swhacker you will probably get better results.

I bought a heap when they had a special on.
I like them so far,but not used them enough in the field yet to give a recomendation, but so far so good. Knees playing up and haven't got to hunt since then.
I like more weight than the maximum 125gr they offer so I used with brass inserts.
They are very well designed, but I would like to see then come out with a steel ferule option for the extra weight and strength. For me they proved very accurate at longer distances, and no probs opening early etc from the equinox.
