what annoys you the most when sitting?

Post by Moxie »

What annoys me the most when I'm sitting in or on a stand, is four tom turkeys. Their walk is so rhythmic that when coming through leaves [see now, we are back to the leaf gliding study] that, it sounds like a four legged animal [deer] coming. Every time these four toms come in from behind be, no matter which stand I'm in, requires me to go have a cardiac consult after. About every third day, these four toms have come in from someplace to have this pronounced effect on me. Yes, the snap me back to reality very quickly; but, they are over stressing my cardiac pump. My cardiac pump get to working so hard I've had finger tips and toes steaming from all the blood sent in those directions. In fact, I've had to expose some flesh to get cooled down after many of these encounters.

What makes it worst, is that, there is no fall season which would allow me to knock off one of these big fellow, and, make me feel better. I really do not want to get so use to the rhythmic walk of turkeys that I'll blow my shot at a deer when it comes.

Tell us what annoys you most when your sitting?

Dogs and people. The past two days, I've seen 4 dogs, and 5 people. Makes it hard to find deer.

The squirrel and coon hunting low life that I caught trying to steal my treestand on thursday this week. I snuck up to him and scared the CRAP out of him.
Good timing on my part to pull the stand.
He quickly walked away with an earfull of Norms stern words...

Dogs are probably the number one on my annoyance list where I hunt with cats running a close second. I hunt isolated woodlots close to my house in the city limits. Cats sneak through the woods and the squirrels just raise cane at them. I don’t mind squirrels, except when the leap out of a nearby tree and jump on me in the tree stand. That’s happened twice this year.

not much bothers me, I hunt public land, so I think of other hunters moving through as deer drivers. some times I get annoyed at myself for not being more vigelent deer just apear and I should of seen them sooner.

how does a 1 lb squirrel make 10 times the noise of a 100 lb deer???

Coyotes. Coyotes = no deer to be seen anytime soon.

And they allways seem just far away enough not to take a shot at em. Dang I hate those fawn eating, doe chasin coyotes.

Red squirrels, the small kind. Seemed to have learned to make as much noise as most deer...always right behind ya. Then crawl into a tree right in front of you and scold like a pissed wife. (I'm told!).

What annoys me most is only having does walk into shooting distance when I have a buck tag. If I had a doe tag, I would have been done by now.
