Finaly Got One!W/Pictures

Post by bojangles »

Got into my stand at 3:30 and things were slow until 5:00.I hear the neighbors start up their four wheelers and go driving through the woods that borders the one I hunt.I thought great, now I wont see anything...but I see 3 doe's bolt out of the woods(4 wheelers scared them out) and run beside my stand and it took alot to hold off on the mature doe in the trio.
I waited ten more minutes and stand up and decide to get down becasue things are slow,I unhook my harness, and climb down 3 steps on my ladder.I happen to look up and see a buck 100 yards in the field and all of the sudden I catch movement out of the corner of my eye.A buck 60 yards from me heading my way in the middle of a cut bean field.I climb quietly up into my stand somehow and raise my Phoenix back up to me(I had it on the ground already),range find him and he's 32 yards.I steady my crossbow, aim right om with the 30 yard mark, make the maaa noise to stop him,and squeeze the trigger. The hit sounded good and he runs off 40 yards and stops.I wait a minuet then hear him fall down and see him kicking.Finaly! After a bad hit on a nice buck earlier in the year this felt so good. I didnt have time to look at his rack while he was coming at me for the shot but I knew he was big enough to shoot.I get down and go to the spot where I seen him fall and there he laid.I shot him right in the heart and he still made it 40-50 yards. He's a basic 8 point with a weird hole in the end of his horn and a extra point coming off above the hole.Has a 18 and a half inch inside spread.I will post pictures as soon as I find someone who I can email the pictures to on here so if you would do this for me please pm your email address.I cant figure out how to do the pic's right and this will be easier for me.I had to take the picture myself and theres alot of blood in the picture and you cant really see my head but I was in a hurry to get him to the buthcer/checked in I didnt look at the picture after I took it so sorry in advance for the crappy pic's.I was using G5 Striker Magnums and Crazy Farmer's arrows :D

I've been caught like that too - just about to climb down, bow is on the ground and then the buck comes in. It makes you do a really good scan before lowering the bow for the rest of your life.

Well done on getting back in the stand and getting the bow back up and getting the perfect shot off! Congrats!
