How many arrows/Quiver ??

Post by terrym »

I need to replace my old style Excalibur quiver, its just not workable with its single grippers and mech heads. How many arrows does everybody carry?

I carry 4 arrows in the stock Excal quiver mounted to a GP mount. 3 bheads and one Devastator. But I'm seriously considering getting one of the Quikee 3 arrow quivers and going to 2 bheads in the quiver instead of 3. I only carry 4 arrows now because I like a full quiver as a quick visual / additional double check before I un-cock the xbow with the cocking aid and my foot is in the stirrup.

I always have 4, could get away with 3 but would prefer 2. I keep 4 in my stock quiver, two Slick Tricks, one Hammerhead mechanical, and one small game head.
I like Slicks 95% of the time, but like to keep a wide cut mechanical too for when the wind kicks up and I need to depend on very little wind influence.
I dislike having an empty slot in my quiver, so I always keep it full, time to switch to a 3 arrow quiver.

i carry 4 in excal quiver, 2 thunderhead 125 for hogs and 2 vortex mech. for deer (which looks like they will be in mint condition for next year). connected on 2 hogs with the thunderheads but no deer because of the hogs at my feeders.

Picked up a Kwikee 3 arrow one today at BP. Nice & light and I can't see me getting more than 3 shots on a deer hunt. Thanks everyone.

I carry as many as fit into the Excal quiver ... is that five?

That's none too many!

There are lots of reasons to carry more than a few arrows in the wild. Not only is there the real possibility of killing two deer on the same outing (I've done it many times), but you have no idea what might happen while you're out there. You might find yourself needing a few extra arrows.

For instance: I know some people who have had very unpleasant experiences in the field with wild dog attacks. At such a time, I say it's better to have a few more than you need than to have a few less than you need! :P
