New Years Day doe!

The story.
I went out hunting the past two days and time was running out. Plus I was talling the time to spent with the wife. So today I thought I'd spent a little time with the wife and hunt on the last day of the season which is Sunday.
I took the dog for a walk across the road where there is a John Deere Dealership. As I was walking him around the lot I notice fresh deer tracks coming out of the swamp and browing on the few kernels of corn that gets cleaned out of combines before they work on them. Boy I thought maybe I could setup a little ambush and get some meat in the freezer.
I talked the wife into letting me go being it was so close. I took a shovel and at the end of the lot there is a big snow pile. I dug myself a snow fort or blind or oh whatever you want to call it, but it sure brought back memories. I got it so it was a good 4 feet deep with a snow seat.
I went back got a cup of coffee and started getting ready. Well I sat down in my newly made blind and I must say it was pretty comfortable. About and hour later here comes a deer right if front of me about 20 yards away. It circled right in front of me and walked out on the lot right past me. I thought the snow bank covered my movement so I sat up and turned my head to meet him eye to eye at about 20 yards between two of my snow boulders. I got the bow up and watched through my scope because he would pass right back the way he came. Sure enought here he trotted and stopped 15yards broadside but his back half was covered from view. I picked the best shot he gave me and let it go. She flipped right over and was done. I checked and the arrow went in forward on the shoulder and must have clipped the spine on the way through. It was all over but the kicking . First deer I ever shot out of a snow fort. That should be the end of the season for me. And a great day it was. :D
