I am new to archery and hunting but I have done firearm target shooting in the past. One of my parishioners wants me to go deer hunting with him next season during archery season.
I have partial paralysis on my right side, so I am not able to use a standard bow but should be able use a crossbow.
Any suggestions for someone who is left handed and has partial paralysis on the right side? The right side is weaker with no fine motor skills but I do have gross motor skills on the right side.
My thoughts are a lighter weight bow with good balance and a safety that is easy to use with the left hand.
I have done some research on-line and I was thinking of something like the Excalibur Vixen II. I don't have any archery shops in my area so before I travel two hours to look at crossbows I want to have some ideas in mind.
Any suggestions
thanks for help.

The vixen or or the vortex with a tenpoint accu draw cranking device works great for me. I'm not sure but I think you can get the crank setup for left cranking. Ask Dan Miller if thats possible. I know he can mount that accu draw for you. Just send the excalibur you choose to shoot to him and he would take care of it. I'm sure someone here has his number. Good Luck and safe hunt.

I am a southpaw with 4 herniated disc's but not paralized at all. I find the vixen-phoenix & Ibex to be the best handling. I have the 1st 2 but not the 3rd. They all handle well & shoot better than i can.

Welcome!
The below is cut and pasted from here. http://www.excaliburcrossbow.com/conten ... _questions
I've seen HW cock his bow tons of time using this method and although it never occurred to me to try it he certainly makes it look really easy.
The Crankeroo is another option. http://www.excaliburcrossbow.com/catalo ... ocking_aid
Theres a way to use our rope cocking aid with one hand that's slick and easy. First you make the rope short enough that you have to pull down about 2" on the second hook to attach it . Next, cut a slot about 3/16" to a 1/4" hole that you drilled through the stock 2" down from the top of and thru the butt plate just to the left of the web for right handers and opposite for lefties. Counter sink the back (butt) side as the handle on the rope cocking aid has to sit into this arrangement . To cock the bow put the rope on, pull the one handle on the side with the slot back and into the slot to rest, then grab the opposite handle and pull up on it to finish cocking the bow. Works like a charm, but it's easier done than said!

Thank you everyone for the great information. I tried to call Danny Miller but he is out of town. I will try to again next week.
Thanks again.
