Are 2317 shafts too big ??!!

Post by PABOWDUDE60 »

I have about 3 dozen 2317 shafts from when I was shooting my compound. Are they too big to make into crossbow arrows? They are Easton XX78 Camo shafts.I don't know if they are too round for the rail and string. Has anyone else tried these?

A collegue of mine tried the same 2317 XX78's in his vortex and they were
too big! I presume they are too big for all the excalibur models, but would
like to be corrected if my speculation is wrong!

23 series arrows should lay in the arrow slot fine. You would have to make sure the string doesn't hit too low as to make front rise up off deck with the thrust of shot.

It wasn't the rail fit that was the problem in the vortex. It was the fit between
the safety claws.

Although I have not personally tried a aluminum 23 series off my deck, I do remember when Greywolf was selling his custom arrows here on the forum and remember him being keen on the 2315 because of how well they shot. A 2317 will just have a thicker wall. If the 2315 shot well then the 2317 should do just the same the way I see it.

I was hoping someone else did try them. I don't want to have a semi dryfire or something like that happening.

Just take one of them and see if it clears the claws that holds the string.
I believe a 23** series shaft should work, but if it's tight in the claws I'd forget it.
