There's nothing more versatile than a 12 guage shotgun with a smoothbore barrel if you want the ability to switch from birdshot, to buckshot, to slugs. I'd go with the Browning Hi-Cap 18" barrel BPS...short, light and having a lefty in the family (wife) the bottom eject enables any shooter to use it.

My Ruger 10-22 with either the 25 or 50 round magazine. Ammo can be found anywhere. A thousand rounds could fit in the side pockets of my cargo pants. Although I would need a belt or my knickers will be showing.

Can fell much larger beasts than it was intended, and plenty of smaller ones.

I'd say 30 45-70 cartridges in the pocket.I also have the marlin guide gun ported in 45-70.It's a cool gun to own.

I imagine I could get enough in my pockets to keep me out of trouble for some time.

400 grain Speers at just under 1700fps(guide gun) can make quite an impression. Zombies take heed!!!!
