No venisen

Post by gogo »

My wife has no use for deer meat at all as a matter of fact she doesn't even want it in the house. She supports my hunting 1000%, and bought more of my hunting stuff then I did. Any body else in the same boat?

Oh ya, my wife won't eat any wild game period.

She won't even eat any fresh fish either.

Unless it comes from a store and says Captian Hind Grinder on it.

Weird!!

No problems with that at all. My wife will even eat goose, when cooked properly.

I don't have my own venison in the house this year...but did get plenty of 'donations' as I do every year from households like yours.

My wife was reluctant at first to eat deer and bear, now, no big deal. She and the kids eat it. I haven't bought beef in a couple years now.

We eat about any game & fish I care to clean. :D
I don't eat venison every meal, but at least 3 or 4 times a week seem to be a good ratio.

my wife will pass on any wild game. I have it processed and give most of it away to friends and food banks.

Opposite here ....

Venison and any wild game here dissappears almost as fast as chocolate. Fresh fish goes faster than chocolate (with the exception of the carp my son insisted on trying :P ).

My wife and kids eat venison (BBQ'd is their favourite) but they leave most other game that I bring home all to me. The funny thing is that, since my wife really likes deer, I was certain she would love moose. Nope! She does not want me to shoot a moose and she says she won't eat it if I bring it home. she veiws them as some sort of cute, gentle giants.

All Females in my house. Except my Dog!
But I cant keep any Wild game in the house for long.
They will eat whatever I process, and seconds of it, until its gone.
Then they look at me like," Well, wheres all the meat Mr. hunter". :) :)
Honestly, there is never enough in my house. Any kind of game.

My wife was reluctant at first. I think it was more a matter of me being out in the woods and not doing chores  , but she does love the fact that the game I bring home is all natural. I think she convinced most of my non hunting neighbors to give it a try and now they appreciate the odd snack from the BBQ. None have taken up hunting but they know where meat really comes from, before it gets to the butcher's block.

The only thing my wife won't eat is bufflehead and merganser ducks. My oldest dog is half beagle and she would eat the arse out of a dead horse but she won't touch those ducks either, so they get a pass when they fly by my gun  .
I hunt for memories, the meat's a bonus!

My girlfriend won't touch anything that doesn't come from a store!! Actually I got her to try a piece of venison pepperoni, she said it was good. Since then she won't touch anything, she says it is a mental thing she can't get past. I got her daughter to finally try some bass that she caught herself and she liked it.

Good thing is that my son will eat anything I bring home and the girlfriend has no problem with me bringing home wild game! As long as I don't try to make her eat it! :D
