2117 vs 2216

Post by shuey270 »

Can I use any size allumn. shaft in my Equinox as longas I stay over 350 grains? Wich would be better 2117 2216 2315? I have all of these to try. I've herd the brass insert from goldtip will fit in a 2117 shaft.I thought that would be easy to get the weight and good foc.

I am new at this also but i have shot all of them and 2219s they all shoot well the 2219s seem to be a little quieter but a little slower also.

Yes the brass insert will fit the 2117, that use to be the Excal standard. Won't fit the 2216 & abit loose in the 2219. The 2315 have to ck make sure it will fit between claws against string.

I'd say most people use 22** series shafts in their Excaliburs now, but the 21** series will work fine, too.
I use 2215s in my Phoenix, but may switch to a 2213 with heavier points next year.
Most Excaliburs aren't too picky about what you feed them.

2216 is a very good i use them all the time. They're lighter than 2117 or 2219.

Yes, your getting close to heavy artillery, and your FOC is OK could stand a little more 488grs. and 12.5 foc

Thanks Wes. I think those should be worth a try. I like my GT2s just fine for whitetails, good speed with plenty of energy. This fall I will use my Exocet for Elk and will be more comfortable with a heavier arrow.
