Another question on inserts

Post by trailcamguy »

I have several 2216 arrows for the vertical bow. Can I use a regular aluminum insert that I already have, or does the insert for the fletched end have to be crossbow specific ? I'll use brass inserts on the business end, but thought I would just use up the aluminum inserts if they will work.....thanks for the input...don

You can leave alum. insert in either end just bevel the edge so if used on rear it won't cut into yer serving!

Makes perfect sense, I'm still green at this and hadn't considered the bevel and string contact...That's why I asked the experts !!

How much of a bevel would you put on the insert and what would you use to bevel the insert?
Thanks,

As said above, most the time i just take a sheet of sandpaper flat down & rub arrow with insert on it til its no longer an edge. I also use a reloaders chamfer tool alot when doing more than a few. Used on brass cases fer inside & outside chamfering.

Ah yes, nothing like a good rock to help with them arrows eh Bob!
You only need a very small bevel. and you may have a problem with Brass fitting the front properly.
Check one for play and sloppiness first. Should fit very snug to start.

Goldtip brass inserts fit 21series exc. with the 2219 or 2216 the brass doesn't fit that well from goldtip, I think someone does make them for the 22series, Rock On
