Your favorite knife
Well, here in Georgia Turkey season has now come and gone, which means that we have about 4 months until we can start chasing Whitetails. So, seeing as how I needed a good skinning knife before deer season begins, I started making one last week and finished it this morning. Any of you have a favorite knife you would like to show off?

Great looking knife!
I use a commercially made Puma "Rattler" for field dressing my deer. Very good quality, light weight, and plenty of blade for the task of field dressing. It's the best I've found so far for that task. Mine's a pre-china model, though.

Wow...that's a nice looking knife! Sure wish I had the talent some of you folks have with your hands!!! I have a few different knives that I've carried. I think my favorite is a Buck 103 skinner that is inlayed with turquoise in the handle by a Navajo.

I have two on display made by legendary reclouse knife maker Tom Barminski of Loveland Colorado. African tigerwood in 3D type character together with AST34 ad D2 steel make quite a stunning pair from Tom.

Re: Your favorite knife
I've got a couple that I like and use almost exclusively for cleaning critters.
This is a matched set. One is mine, the others is the boy's.
That one I use on deer.
This is a smaller one that I had made to handle the smaller critters........ squirrels, rabbits, turkeys, etc.
The knives were made by a friend of mine in Iowa. He does a really good job, and makes his knives to be functional as well as pretty.

Re: Your favorite knife
Heres a knife a Hopi Indian Chief made me back in the 80s.He also made this blanket to wrap the knife .The steel is Santa Fey. The Chief blessed this knife and told me if carried on the hunt....I would never come home gameless......100% correct!!!!!

Oldarcher when will you start taking orders, that's a good looking blade. What type of steel did you use?
2009 Equinox, Easton Powerbolts, S5 system, 100 gr. spitfires. Judging a person does not define who they are. It defines who you are.

Re: Your favorite knife
Three or four years ago I made them and sold them on Ebay, but it took more time than I had to give and got out of it for a while. I just have started getting back into making them. Right now I buy my blades already made from several different knife makers, and all the work is done by hand, belt sander and files but I intend to buy a Grizzly belt grinder and make my own blades latter on. When I get up and running I will put a post on here in case someone wants one made but I am not quite ready yet. Thanks for asking.
