If the folks here don't respond soon to your question, maybe try a search under "lighted nocks". It has been discussed here, but I wasn't interested in the topic so I can't even properly repeat what may have been said by others.

I think you would have two concerns. First, if you are trying to pull out your old nocks, how is it best done? Second, if you do install tail lights on your arrows, what, if anything, do you have to do to the front end? I suspect that you will, but members who have already done this project can give you a definite answer.

It is easy to remove plastic nocks from aluminum 2219’s.

Tools: pliers and a propane torch

Hold the nock with the pliers, gently heat around the end of the arrow and when the nock just begins to melt, remove the torch and twist the nock out.

The tricky part is the removal of all the residual plastic and glue. Purchase two metric drill bits: (1) One 7.75 mm drill bit and (2) One 7.80 mm drill bit.

After the nock is removed, chuck the 7.75 mm bit in a drill and slowly work the bit back and forth several times. Chuck the 7.80 mm drill bit and work it slowly back and forth several times.

I had to drill the old nock out,the new one was really a tight fit,it didn't want to go the last 1/8" so i took a hammer and pounded it in,i hope it still works! I'll shoot it on sunday and see if i did it right.

A 30 cal brush on a short section of cleaning rod works well for the residual residue inside the shaft. Just do it a little at a time until it's done.

I just drove to the local archery shop and had them look at the bolt, they said it was in the shaft way too tight so i drove home put the bolt in a vise and pulled the tracer nock out.I then used a large drill bit to open the end of the bolt and i also sanded the end of the bolt.I then was able to hand fit the lighted nock according to directions. The light did come on after inserting it and i wiggled it back and forth for it to shut off so i think it will work now!

Riflemanz,

When you purchase your next set of arrows, you might wish to do like some of us who have been through the nock removal exercise before and purchase your next set of arrows without nocks.

My lighted nock of preference is FireNocks. Have fun.

It is great to see the arrow fly through the air and it is fun to watch them ricochet off trees and rocks after a pass through and even more fun to watch them when they ricochet, like a sky rocket, off the back of a deer.

Riflemanz,

I purchase my all of my bolts from the hardware store (I apologize, but I had to say that).

However, I purchase the arrows for my Phantom from TenPoint and the arrows for my Vixen from Excalibur.

And, I purchase my FireNocks, directly from FireNock (we are not supposed to attach internet links within our messages) Google "firenocks".

I hope that this helps.

You are asking the correct questions. Always ask, before you spend -- there are not too many mistakes that can be made regarding crossbows that have not already been made by more than one member of the forum. You may receive differing opinions or conflicting advice - we all have our personal preferences. But, asking beforehand will give you time to ponder, sort though the options and will probably save you money in the long run.

You are doing well and you are learning. Have a good season and have fun.

Best,
Meat Hunter
