Fishing expedition...

Post by TPM »

Our five-year-old has been bugging us to take him fishing for the first time so we went today. Neither of us have fished for many years now but we really enjoyed sorting through the old tackle boxes again. We took him to a stocked pond (Trout Springs) as I think it's important for a first timer to have some success to keep their interest. We ended up having a really great time! Here's a few pics.

Checking out the worms.

Getting a few pointers from Dad.

Patiently waiting...

Got one on the line!

His first fish! Rainbow Trout, 21" and just over 3 pounds.

Managed to pull in another one. 18", just under 2 1/2" pounds.

Exactly! What's the old saying? "Give a kid a fish and he eats for a day, teach him to catch his own and... um.... Mom and Dad eat for a couple of days too!", or something like that.... :D

Any chance you can get some info on that trout pond, I had a friend ask me yesterday where he could find one to take his son on his first trip.
