Exomax Broadhead Survey

Post by Big Pard »

I know I've beaten this to death but, What are the Equinox and Exomax shooters using? 100gr or 150gr, Fixed or expandable. Its getting harder for me to see blood and I like to get a broadhead that is accurate and leaves a decent blood trail.

any bhead should make a deer bleed well depending on where you hit it...

i like the rage 2 and 3 blade heads.. 100grain

slick trick 100g heads worked just as well for me. Excellent blood also.. no matter what bhead ive shot ive never had a issue with blood trailing. From wasp, muzzy, and etc... all cut and did the job. Im more concerned with flight so thats why i choose rage. All 100grains for me, but that just depends on your arrows FOC

gt laser II,alum knock, brass inserts, blazer veins,100gr slicktrick mags.If you are going to stay with those firebolts you may need to shoot a heavy broad head to keep a good frount of center!! I shoot the above setup from my equinox. And firebolts with bolt cutters 150 gr from my exocet! they shoot great!!

I shoot the 125 gr . . .split the difference. 8)

I was shooting the 100gr . . .but, switched to the 125 after shooting the wider broadheads. I wanted that extra weight to insure a complete pass. I shoot a 408 grain total. Gives me max speed and plenty of KE to push the Stricknine through the deer.

Rage 3 blade. I shot 8 or 9 deer so far with the 3 blade. All expired under 45 yards.
Of course, I hit them right.

Ok, for those shooting the Rages, have you all had any problems with it opening prematurely? I like the blood trail they leave but I'm kinda worried that the may open too soon in my Exomax.

One extra step is needed before sliding a Rage down the deck- verify all blades are seated properly to prevent any premature opening. Some see this as a negative. I has become automatic for me and not a problem.

No problems when I used the 2 bladed Rages. But like Norm said, ensure the blades are seated tight against the rubber o-ring. Make sure you have spare o-rings, the blades will wear an indent in the o-ring and that will make them loose.

I have used the Montec G5 with excellent results as far as kills but not blood trails.
I have switched to the NAP Bloodrunner hybrid.
