My First Robin Hood

Post by OkXbowHunter »

Well, I finally did it and I wasn't even trying! I was merely testing different weight field tips on Firebolts and some ExCal 2219's I piked up over the weekend. As probably everyone here has done, I wanted to see which ones were most accurate. Since the wind was howling, I didn't expect much. But even then, I was still getting good groups @ 30 yards with all combinations.

On the last shot of my last 3 arrow group, this happened, My first true Robin Hood! I've been shooting a vertical bow since 1978 and while I've cut feathers and chipped knocks off of those arrows, I've never had a true center punched Robin Hood, until today. Thank you Excalibur!

But there is a downside, I have to buy more arrows! (got some Gold Tip Kenetics coming :) )

Oh, and if you're wondering, both 2219's and Firebolts shot nearly equally well at 30 yards with 150 and 125 grain field tips. The 2219's seemed to be less affected by the wind and my ExCal shot MUCH quieter with them!

The Firebolts point of impact shifted up and to the left with the 125 grain field points. Now I'll have to try the 100 grain tips. But I'll make sure to aim at the different dots on my Morrell Crossbow Target!
Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison; And make me savoury meat, such as I love, and bring it to me, that I may eat; that my soul may bless thee before I die. Gen 27:3-4

 Excalibur is becoming the source of a major carbon shortage worldwide. Do your part and aim at a different circle!!

@ Bob,

During this practice session, I was shooting both 2219's and the Carbon Firebolts that came with my Axiom. I was trying different weights of field points to see which grouped the best. The Robin Hood came with the Firebolts using 125 grain field tips.

@ Dennis

Man, that is awesome!
