Coey Model 84 12 guage Shell Size

Post by Ottawa Valley Lad »

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone knows what shell size the old Coey Model 84 uses. Is it 2 3/4" or 3"

Thanks

84 or 840? My cooey 840 uses 2 3/4 and 3"

What guage is your gun? A quick google search turned up a couple of different guages, 410, 20, 12 in the 84s

Mine is fairly old , back in the late 50's. It's a 12 gauge model 84. I tried to google, but didn't find anything

Your right, very little info on a search. Im surprised at that. I found two listings. One said for sale mentioned being a 3" chamber and another said 2 3/4. It does not mention the size required on your barrel? It may be worth taking it to a gunsmith to find out the proper size and then have it marked on the barrel permanently since it can vary, even in the same model #. From what I hear a barrel busting open is a very uncomfortable feeling  :D

The links I found:
