lowering xbow from stand
This will be my first year hunting with a Crossbow and have a question for experienced tree stand hunters.
Tonight I was practicing for the first time with the xbow out of a tree stand and upon lowering it from the stand by rope attached to the striup the bow wanted to flip and hit the the ground scope first.
Are their any tricks to prevent this?

Cut the cord shorter so the bow dangles. As long as its strong enough you wont have any problems.

Hey Gerald,
Simple answer. Don't let the bow hit the ground. Make your string short enough so that the bow hangs off the ground when the sting is let out all the way or so the bow just touches the ground but the scope doesn't. You should be able to get the length of the string right by yourself, but if you need help have a buddy hold the bow on the ground for you while you adjust the length from the treestand.

You beat me to it! Glad I'm not hunting with you, you'd take the animals before I even saw one! HEHEHE.

Tie yer cord around the wrist part of stock. Front end being heavier the stirrup will touch first just ease it on down

That is the way I lower mine, also have the cord short enough that the stirrup is barely touching the ground.vixen master wrote:Tie yer cord around the wrist part of stock. Front end being heavier the stirrup will touch first just ease it on down

A very good reminder Bob! I had the same bad sick feeling too in the early 90's after lowering it similarly.

I looked at those on eBay. I can do 30 stands(if I had that many) for around $15 using 550 camo parachute cord. Yes I am a Cheapskate!!!perrysbirds wrote:Google up "Hunters Hoist" and get one.
