decocking with the crankeroo

Post by Northwoods »

I am setting up a handicapped gentleman with a new Excal, probably an Axiom... for deer hunting.
He will need a crankeroo as he cannot pull more than 35 lbs.
Question is...after cocking his bow how best to uncock it? :?:

Can the crankeroo do this or does he just carry a practice arrow to shoot into the ground ?...

Thanks!

Nope, sorry it's not recommended. I won't say it's impossible, but here's a link to the instructional videos where Bill T advises against uncocking the bow with the crankeroo.

If he has any upper body strength--make him a loop of rope to go over his shoulder--under his opposite arm with a small loop in front to hold the handle of the normal cocking aid--and all he has to do is lean backwards and pull the trigger with his finger. It is surprising how little muscle power is required to uncock an Excalibur---any model. Hope this helps.

I like the K.I.S.S. principal. - Just shoot an arrow into the ground.
You might damage one arrow, but you can probably set it aside in your quiver and still use it for unloading. A lot better to damage an arrow than damaging body parts.

PLEASE !!!!!Don`t let your friend uncock with the crank . If he has limited strength then he has limited speed to get out of the way of the spinning handle . It is a very quick knuckle buster .
