Hi
We lived in Invermere and Cranbrook while the wee Colleen was in school. Canal Flats about 40 minutes north of Cranbrook is loaded with Elk. Stand on the highway and defy you to drive by. Wasa a small town north of Cranbrook is also loaded with elk.

See if you can contact someone in that area it should be easy to fill a tag.

There is a small lake near Wasa, Rock Creek ? The road from Wasa to rock creek has a few farms and I'm sure if you went out there you could find a willing farmer. Take your fishing gear and get a couple brookies at the same time.

Good for you to help you Dad.
Report back when he gets his Elk.

A word of caution. If you down an Elk. have someone stand guard with a big rifle. Grizz will smell a kill and come looking for a free lunch, which might include you.

Sorry can't help hank...like lakelover mentioned watch out for the big Grizz. My 15 year old son and his step father put a goat down 2 weeks ago in the Caribous. They humped out the head and hide and when they got back to the carcass a Grizz had laid claim to it..She was not giving it up :( :(
