I about to tell a very embarrasing story but i feel i must, in hopes it helps someone eles..mostly anyone new to crossbows , but it could happen to anyone,,
Came off the moutain last night after passing on a doe because the shot just wasnt right and i didnt want to take the chance of a bad hit,,
4 of them came in at dark and kept me there way longer than i wanted but i couldnt leave and spook them ,,so i waited..
Finaly they left and I started down ..Its a long way and i needed to get back soon so i was movin pretty good..
before i got to my truck i took out my rope cocker and mentaly was going over what to put up first so i could get rolling..
Got to my truck put my foot in the stirrup , got my cocker in place, pulled back with my left hand ,pulled trigger with my right... Then i felt a sharp pain in my middle toe..
Yall probly saw this coming.. I LEFT MY ARROW IN!!!!
How stupid is that?,,
Good thing is I had a good grip so It didnt do much ,just a small nick on my toe and a nice three blade hole in my boot..so Im ok ..I just pulled back a bit and removed the arrow..
I just had to post this because im sure im not the first one to do it but probly one of the few that would tell..
So im ready for the jokes guys bring em on,,
Hope someone takes it to heart and learns from my follys..These things are made to kill and cannot be taken lightly..Have fun out there but BE SAFE :P

That IS a big danger to letting the string down by hand!
I've never done it, but I have come close. Luckily I did it in good light and saw the arrow before I touched the trigger.
I now unload by shooting an arrow in the ground 99% of the time.

If I were going to unload that way regularly I would use arrows long enough so I couldn't get my foot in the stirrup with an arrow loaded.

thats one thing about a bhead thats a little longer... I almost had it happen to me once but my boot actaully kicked and made the arrow bump before I went to let it down!!!

nothing funny about it!

Thers nothing funny about that situation at all. I've almost done it myself with the exomax. I think the lower draw weights its harder to do with since the arrow sticks out further like bstouts avatar.

Nope I never lower or raise it loaded..thats already built in because its the same with a gun ..I always check that good before i tie my rope..
and i guess your right about the loaded CB comming out..
I always walk in loaded..gun or bow ..and unload when i get to my tree..and i walk out loaded just to feel safe ..ther is bears out there and i have had cyots walk up on me..

No laughing here. Try shooting your bow with the rope cocker still on bow. Broke the plastic rope cocker on my finger and split it open. They can be dangerious when one isn't paying attention. Glad you are ok.

Thanks for sharing, I haven't had any problems yet as I am also new to crossbows,(this will be my first Deer season with it), but one cannot be too careful.

Always unload mine by shooting into my discharge bag that I always have with me- no way to go wrong like that.
Take time to enjoy each & everyday that GOD has given us- be thankful.
