Nice deer and a great story about the hunt.
Thanks for sharing with us. :)

Great opener. I was out for the first time this year in NS. By 8:00 am I had 5 deer pass by my stand all within 15 yards. Even had a fawn smelling the ladder only minutes after I had climbed up. With so many deer around I let them walk. It's so relaxing to be back in the woods.
I hunt for memories, the meat's a bonus!

Way to go RJ. Looks like the deer slayer is at it again. You sure don't like to waste time putting them in the freezer.

Thanks all ...

Just great to get back in the woods ... Randy S. and I have the week off , so we are trying differnt spots each day .

Seeing lot's of doe and fawns but no decent bucks ?

That's pretty standard for our area ... It see's alot of pressure and the big boys don't show themselves much in the daylight hours .... You will see the bigger bucks later in the gun season during the rut , or drivin hunts .

Also we don't have the buck to doe ratio of some areas / states ...

As I mentioned in a previous thread " If you are a weekend hunter in our area , with limited access to properties " ... passing does etc. , will sometimes result in an emprty freezer !

Main thing is , enjoy your time in the field .... take a camera when you can , share the adventures with your friends and family !
