One for one shots scott's family

Post by one shot scott »

8:10 am I had two young bucks walk straight to me and as they came into range they both went broadside at 30 yards. One of them had a few twigs covering the vitals so I chose the other and let loose. Heres the odd part: they both take off running at the sound, the one that was hit disappeared and the other ran a small circle and then stood for a while, then proceeded to walk with in range again and stood looking for the source of the noise! I had slight wind in my direction and he never picked me up, but he stayed walking that small area for 30-45 mins just looking around and sometimes licking his nose, other times nose in the air and yet other times sniffing the arrow. He was really trying to figure out what just happened. Thats why I love these animals, you just never know what they are going to do sometimes!! When he finally left I picked up the trail and found my buck 50-60 yards away. high entrance and low exit. both lungs hit but they were not collapsed? heart still intact. I took the camera with me but the batteries were dead.

Glad to have some fresh meat in the freezer! Good luck to those going out tonight and good luck in the remainder of the season!

Congrats!! Good story. Deer do weird things. At least you remembered to take your camera, even if the batteries were dead.
