Nice Doe Down

Post by weezy »

Went out at 4 this afternoon and got settled in my stand at 4:15 and did'nt see a thing till 5:45 when 3 doe's came out 100 yards away. They ate for awhile then 7 doe's came out behind them.It looked like 3 big doe's and their fawns. They were all out eating in the field when a house cat came down the field edge and scared them. They blew and took off toward it stomping their feet only yards away from it.It was very entertaining. They eventualy ran off from it
Around 6:50 4 doe's and a young 8 point buck came out behind me 50 yards away.A doe and the buck came my way and the rest went on through the woods. The buck was grunting and chasing the doe like it was the rut.She didnt want to have anything to do with him though so she trotted off as I was settling my Phoenix for a 15 yard shot. She trotted off a good ways,I made a maa noise to get her to stop,I ranged her at 47 yards, put it behind her shoulder, and pulled the trigger.I used the 40 yard pin high(Im still not sure why I did that in stead of using 50 yard pin low,Oh well). She ran off and I heard her crash.Very good blood trail with the Striker Magnum and she only went 35 yards with a double lung shot.

Congrats on the nice Doe and a good story to boot!
Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison; And make me savoury meat, such as I love, and bring it to me, that I may eat; that my soul may bless thee before I die. Gen 27:3-4

Congratulations Weezy! Gotta love those Strikers!
I couldn't agree with you more Boo. My Striker went through on a quartering shot. Entered the ribs and exited opposite shoulder. It went through bone coming and going.

Congrats on the doe! Great job!

Is it just me, or does 47 yards seem like a LONG shot with the bow? Not being critical, just wondering.
