serving broke on new excal flemish string

Post by havok »

I installed the flemish string on Oct. 1st and the serving has already broken on the right side. I've waxed it per the dvd that came with my excal. And I've only shot firebolts with it. I've probably shot about 30-40 bolts.

It looks like it is being cut by the rear end of the slot where the string goes back when cocking. Look at it and if you find a relatively sharp corner then radius it with a pocket knife and don't pull on the rope cocker past where you hear the click. It is caused by "over cocking" the bow.

I think you're right. I do seem to overcock it. I didn't do it when I first got the bow but now I believe I am cause I do seem to be pulling past the click I hear. Is it hard to restring or I'll just buy another one? Are you taking orders at the moment? I've heard a lot of great things about your strings.

I am taking orders but am probably 45 strings behind.
They are easy to reserve if you are set up but it probably makes sense to buy another now and then gather everything you need to reserve. You will need serving material, a serving tool and a jig to put a large amount of tension on the string so you can lay the serving on really tight.
I like the Cavalier Pro as a serving tool. I would advise you to use 0.026" Angel Majesty as serving material. Last but not least here are some links for the jig.

Buy a couple of strings from Danny Miller in Ohio 740 483 2312. Ask for a string with the black serving.
Learn to serve your own string. A string from Danny is all of $15.00 and you can serve them 3 or 4 time or more depending on when you reserve.

I went to basspro and bought another flemish string and some boltcutter broadheads. Still have my string but don't think I'm too comfortable with reserving it.

Where can one purchase the Angel Majesty serving material?
