Week in review , and some comment's on Excalibur quality .

Post by R.J. »

I pulled pic's from the last three threads and added a few more ....

Pre-Scouting , found does and fawns , but the bucks were scarse ...

Image

Image

Also this donkey with the sheep caught my eye and provided a funny photo op .

Image

Wasn't feeling well opening day Oct 1st , but still made it out for an afternoon stand ...

A few doe bleats from my Primos can and one grunt from my " Cooper Call " brought this nice doe in to 10 yards ...

Image

Image

Image

A " gear " shot at the tree ....

Image

And a shot at the butcher shop ... ( yep , gutted out there because I forgot my knife )

Image

10 yard , spine shot pass thru = zero recovery distance .
Excalibur Y25 Relayer Crossbow .
Custom "Boo" string .
Easton Aluminum arrows fletched in white with one orange vane .
130 Grain WASP Cam Lock Broadheads .

Early week , I'm as tired as this cat I snapped a picture of at one farm

Image

We move around from farm to farm and have some good doe encounters .

Image

This little button buck came in right under the tree one night ... I got several pic's and video ... then later missed a 30 yard shot on a nice 8 point buck , due to a left side limb deflection , ( my mistake ... clean miss though ) .

Image

Mid week finds us back in the field trying ground blinds , and carving new climber tree locations ...

Image

Image

Image

Image

On and evening stand , after a coyote encounter , Randy arrows his first of the season .

Image

Image

20 yard , spine shot pass thru = zero recovery distance .
Excalibur Exomag Crossbow . ( older carved tip limb model )
Easton Aluminum 2216 arrows .
130 Grain WASP Boss Broadhead .

Saturday morning ... CH takes a stand overlooking a swamp grass bedding area , and watches a doe stomp a bold coyote that tries to mess with her fawns .

Then approx 15 mins later he arrows a young 8 point buck .

Image

Image

Image

Long shot , quartering away , double lung , approx 15 yard recovery distance .
Excalibur Exomax ... 2219 with 100 grain WASP Boss broadhead .

Later that morning we take advantage of the beauty weather and train CH's Brittany ( "Jazz " ) on some Chukar Partridge .

I've read some recent threads about troubles people have had with misc Excalibur tackle ?

I've had , and hunted with pretty well every model Excalibur has made since the early 80's ... have never had a major malfunction ...

Any minor problems I have had , were a direct result of some abuse to the bow ( dropped etc. ) .

And any time I had a minor issue it was taken care of by the Excalibur crew right away ... can't remember any missed field time due to crossbow trouble ?

You will be hard pressed to find any other product manufacture that has the same Customer Service record that Excalibur has !

I'm down to three in the line up now . ( My original Relayer / My Y25 Relayer / and a stock Vixen with peep sights ) .

My original Relayer is retired now ( although I'm thinking about stringing it for an outing this season )

Image

Image

My Vixen is more than enough bow to take down any whitetail ! .... I took this beauty buck last season at 15 yards with it .

Image

And my Y25 Relayer see's plenty of action in all types of weather ... Aside from battle scars , it has performed flawlessly !

Image

Image

Image

Image

Can't say enough about the quality and durability of Excalibur Crossbows !

PS : I end this 1st week of whitetail season off , with and evening stand at my place ...

A freakin hot air ballon passed directly over my tree ( maybe 15 to 20 feet above ) ... it actually dropped lower and swiped the tops of some nearby tree's in my bush lot as it proceeded to land in the field across from my property .... all the time lightin the burner ( man that echo's in the bush ! )

Image

Now there is some thing you don't see everyday , when your taking an evening stand !
