Doing the doe-down hoedown

Post by maple »

It's been really slow hunting so far this season, with little time, fewer deer and strange behavior (on their part).

Earlier I passed on a doe with two fawns because I just didn't want to ruin the moment, and I expected more to follow. Nothing did. Then I blew a chance at a nice 8 point because I moved when I thought he wasn't looking, and he was. He left from under my stand in a hurry. So, last Wednesday this good looking doe pranced out on her own and presented a clean shot at 18 yards. I can do that, so I took it. She ran 60 yards into the cedars before piling up. That is the longest it has taken me to harvest a deer ever.

The fresh liver and oyster mushrooms for supper were much appreciated. The pressure's off.

Congrats!

You still using the Spitfires?

Congrats on a fine Doe! How about a pic of those vittles! :D
Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison; And make me savoury meat, such as I love, and bring it to me, that I may eat; that my soul may bless thee before I die. Gen 27:3-4
