Broadhead data

Post by sumner4991 »

Here are some quick numbers on the broadhead data.

KILLS

#kills = 70 , Last year = 167 , 2008 = 205
Mechanical = 25 , Last year = 55 , 2008 = 54
Fixed = 45 , Last year = 112 , 2008 = 151

UNRECOVERED DEER
#Unrecovered = 3 , Last year = 8 , 2008 = 5
Mechanical = 1 , Last year = 3 , 2008 = 0
Fixed = 2 , Last = 5 , 2008 = 5

We are way behind last years totals. I seriously doubt we will catch up. Where are all the kills?

Keep reporting the data. I will average the yards after hit and other stats after the season is over.

Thanks,

Scott

Scott, you're a good man! I love to see that kind of data. Thanks for keeping track of it!!!

I'll break it down by brand in the end.

Just post the data when you post about your kill . . .if I comment about your deer, then you know I got the data. :wink:

Thanks,

Scott

vrodman . . .I need the broadhead used and the yardage travelled after the hit. And congrats on the deer. 8)

No . . .I didn't track the turkey data. There was just too few being reported. I didn;t think the data would compile fast enough.

Doesn't anyone have any kills from today? Our black powder started here so bow kills from here on out will be minimum. By the way Sumner, I can't get over how beautiful that stock is. I hope things in Const. improve soon so I can invest in one of those.

Hey Scott, wasn't there more specific data? I mean, brand names and weights? I ask because I am considering trying some of the Rage expandables and was wondering how many have been used in your compilation.

When I first started this experiment, I was just collecting the brand, mechanical vs. fixed and the yardages. I thought that would be plenty.

Now, we have three or four varities of each head. Seems like every maker has added a Magnum or some other label on a heavier/wider/longer broadhead.

If I had attempted to keep track of every variety, then I'm not so sure I could keep up. It would be easy if everyone was as detailed oriented as you when they give the information. In reality, I'm happy to get the broadhead and the yards after impact. If I ask for too many specifics, then I think people would be "troubled" with giving the information.

Anytime you guys are looking at a specific broadhead and would like to know what I got on it, then post a thread asking for it or shoot me a pm. Posting a thread usually gets views from people that have tried the broadhead and may have additional information. However, you will also get several people telling you to use what works for them. Your call. :)

There have been approx. 40 kills with the Rage. They seemed to be more popular in 2008. Several notable members use the Rage and have posted some nice deer with them, like Rich and Crazy Farmer. The average recovery has been around 40 yards(will take me a little while to do the math). Longest being 225 and shortest being 0(several 0's). The only con that I am aware of is making sure the O-ring is seated.

Add two with the rage 2 blade for me...both went about 50yds. If hog's count one with muzzy 3 blade...this one went about 10yds.
