It is never easy getting Deer out of the woods but some times it is more interesting than others.
Great job on the recovery and congratulations to both of you.

Congrats! Good you stuck with it and found him.
Glad I wasn't the one fetching him out of the river though.

Too funny!
The same thing has happened to our camp often enough that one of our fellows now keeps a "retrieval kit" in his gear. It consists of an inflatable air mattress, a battery powered pump, a long rope and a life-jacket. We used it last year to get this doe out of a beaver pond.

That just adds to the excitement of a successful hunt. If it were easy, anybody could do it.

Nice recovery guys.

I think I saw the correct way to do this on Man vs. Wild . . .the guy stripped down in sub zero weather and waded accross the stream to retrieve his caribu. To get his body temp up, before he dressed, he did 200 push-ups. He da man.

Anytime I complain about the cold weather while hunting now, my wife asks if my hunting partner and I did our push-ups. I've stopped complaining.

I like your retrieval method better. I'll keep it in mind if I end up with a deer in these Georgia swamps.
I'd rather wear out than rust out.

200 push ups!!!
The push ups would kill me long before the hypothermia ever would!!

If you do not want to get wet, go to a fishing store and get a grapel, it is a weighted hook.

Tie to some cord and throw it over past the deer and slowley pull it in. It will hook the deer and you can just pull it over to land.
